Our Group Homes are fast paced, challenging Residential programs.  Choices provides direct Support staffing to a wide range of individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.  We are currently seeking Part-time direct support staff in our Organization.   

General Requirements and Expectations:

 

  • We welcome individuals with post-secondary education in Social Sciences which includes:

    • Social Work

    • Social Service Worker

    • Health Studies 

    • Gerontology

    • Psychology

    • Gender Studies 

    • Humanities

We are looking for professional support staff with the strength and ability to:

 

  • Values, promotes and embraces diversity, equity and inclusion principles and practice

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of community organizations and service providers across sectors

  • Has experience working with individuals complex needs  

  • Positive behavioral interventions and supports 

  • The Behavioural Escalation Continuum

  • Person Centered Planning 

  • Citizenship and Social Inclusion

  • Adaptive and maladaptive behaviours 

  • Ontario Regulation 299/10; its associated quality assurance measures and core competencies

Bona Fide Requirements:
 

  • The ability to speak, read, apply and communicate in English   

  • The ability to engage in all aspects of Safe Management and Medication documentation/administration and achieve and maintain an acceptable passing mark in mandatory testing

  • The ability to engage in First Aid/CPR 

  • The ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on policies and procedures and Choices Service Principles

  • A valid Driver’s License, clean driving record, reliable vehicle and insurable under the Agency Policies
